Who You Say I Am

“Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.” Proverbs 30:5 ESV

What a comforting thought — every word of God is true!

But for some reason, we don’t always live like this. Sometimes we go through life without accepting these truths.

In our most recent podcast episode we talked about overcoming insecurity, and the fact that we need to accept the truth that God is our Creator, and therefore we were created well. We also faced the fact that although we would never call God a liar, we don’t always live our lives knowing and accepting some of these truths that He says about us.

This blog post is the first post in our “You Say” series. In the next four posts, we are going to be discussing some of the things that God says about us. These four things are taken out of the song “You Say” by Lauren Daigle. I would recommend listening to this song. It has a very powerful message that we will be discussing in the next few weeks (and if you are interested, there is an acapella version of this song by Praise and Harmony).

It is awesome to know that we have a God who only speaks the truth about us. Have you ever received a compliment that you knew wasn’t true? I know that a struggle for some of us is not trusting that people are being honest with us. Sometimes when someone says they love us or care about us our first reaction is,  “Prove it”. We may not believe what they have to say about us. But God has already proved it to us, and we can have full assurance that everything God says about us is true!

Psalm 145.13b CEB says, “The Lord is trustworthy in all that he says, faithful in all that he does.”

Psalm 119:160 NIV says, “All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.”

As we look at some of the things that God says about us, we need to know that they are true, and we can trust everything that God says. I hope that this will be a beneficial study as we learn to combat insecurities and the lies that Satan tries to tell us with the truths that God explains to us.

There is something so encouraging about being grounded in God’s truths. When we fully believe what He says about us, no one, including ourselves, can change our mind about who we are! Because we are God’s and our worth is defined by His love. Let’s start this journey together with an attitude that we can confidently say “I believe what God says about me!”

In Christian love,

Julianna
