You Say I Am Held

“I will continue to carry you even when you are old. I will take good care of you even when your hair is gray. I have made you, and I will carry you. I will take care of you, and I will save you. I am the Lord.” Isaiah 46:4 NIRV

When do you feel the safest? I feel safest in my Daddy’s arms. There have been multiple times in my life when all I wanted to do was be comforted by my father’s hug. It is such a safe and reassuring feeling to be wrapped in the arms of someone you love. And God promises us that same feeling with Him.

I love the verse in Isaiah 46 because the promise here is constant. God holds us all the time and He is always with us even in our old age.

God is always with us! And anytime we need to feel His peace, we can.

Matthew 28:20b ESV says, “And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

God is always willing to carry us. He is continuously there.

In this world, we will get discouraged and frustrated, but in God we can have peace because He has overcome the world.

John 16:33 NIRV says, “I have told you these things, so that you can have peace because of me. In this world you will have trouble. But be encouraged! I have won the battle over the world.”

We can experience indescribable peace when we choose to live in the safety of God’s arms. When life is going well, He is there for us. When life is bad, He is there for us. When you feel like you can’t do it on your own, He is right there to pick you up and hold you.

Deuteronomy 1:31 NIRV says, “You also saw how the Lord your God brought you through the desert. He carried you everywhere you went, just as a father carries his son.”

Isaiah 40:10-11 NIRV says, “The Lord and King is coming with power. He rules with a powerful arm. He has set his people free. He is bringing them back as his reward. He has won the battle over their enemies. He takes care of his flock like a shepherd. He gathers the lambs in his arms. He carries them close to his heart. He gently leads those that have little ones.

When the Israelites were at their weakest point, God didn’t leave them or abandon them. Instead, He had compassion for them and He picked them up and carried them and He does the same thing for us today.

Just as a shepherd is gentle and loving with their sheep, God is the same way with us. His gentle and loving arms are always open wide and He is constantly willing to hold us!

So next time you are feeling alone remember that God promises to be there to carry you. And He is with you always, anytime you feel like you need a hug remember the peace you experience from God’s embrace. Everything God says about me is true, and God says I am held!
