You Say I Am Strong

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 NKJV

I can remember multiple times in my life when I felt weak, maybe I was struggling with stress or guilt or injuries but I knew in those moments I did not feel strong.

Something I am quickly realizing is that I never feel strong on my own, even if I’m working out every day or I’m lifting weights and I’m just in a really good place mentally, life is going to happen and I’m going to feel weak, I may feel like I am not strong enough to handle the problems at hand. But here’s the thing: you never have to do it on your own, you never have to rely on your strength.

Our strength comes from God!

The first verse that we went over is a very familiar one, Philippians 4:13. I want you to notice here that it doesn’t say “I can do all things through my strength” but instead it says “I can do all things through Christ’s strength.” He is the one that strengthens us to make all things possible.

Matthew 19:26 NKJV says, “But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

We see numerous times in the Bible where God is saying you can’t do this on your own, humans alone aren’t strong enough for this but with me on your side nothing is impossible. Our human strength means nothing, but if we rely on God, He tells us we can be overflowing with strength.

2 Timothy 1:7 ESV says, “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

I love that verse!! God is giving us this spirit of strength and power. He knows we can not do it on our own and so He is equipping us with this strength.

Isaiah 40:29-31 ESV says, “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

At your weakest point, God is with you and He is giving you strength. Life is hard, and when it feels like it’s too much remember no one expects you to do it on your own, rely on God and He will strengthen you.

Joshua 1:9b ESV says, “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God says that we are strong. I want to encourage you to depend on God for your strength, because He is always with you, and He makes the impossible possible. We serve the strongest God ever, and He is giving you this strength if you trust in Him. Everything God says about me is true, and God says I am strong!

In Christian Love,
